Green Domain Station Well

Did you know that this pond was dug around the Torhout steam trains
to provide water to Ostend? It is therefore not a coincidence
located along the green axis 'Groene 62', a former steam railway route
stretching from Torhout to Ostend. The perfect place to take a break
to rest, to walk, to fish and of course to enjoy nature.
Take a look at the small but nice poetry garden!

Green 62 L62 – Green Ash

Railway line 62 used to be a 22 km long railway between Ostend
(Zandvoordestraat) and Torhout (Aartrijksestraat). The target: Parisians
quickly to Ostend.
The fact that the seasonal workers could go in the opposite direction to northern France was a bonus. However, the rail connection was canceled and the tracks were broken up. Spoor 62 became the Groene 62, a green, car-free axis for walkers and cyclists. Along the way you can enjoy the polders and forests and you will come across some nice stopping places. close the
round off the tour with a visit to domain d'Aertrycke and Wijnendale Castle.
